( Why were we born in this era? )

Last night, I was jammed inside the crowd on Hennessy Road, opposite the SOGO Department Store in Causeway Bay, proceeding slowly to the entrance of the MTR station. Bustling neon lights shined upon people dressed in black and those busy but impatient shoppers.

Suddenly, a friend on the phone came up with a question: "I thought about it that year, why did the Father let us be born in this era?" Not long after, I received another message. "I am amazed the witness of this event openly talk about God and pray for the coming of His righteousness. After all, the participants on this occasion have different religious beliefs!"

Sitting quietly in the train compartment with deep thinking, I recorded down my heartfelt response.

"It is not for us to choose to live in which era.

Daniel, living in his time.

Jeremiah, living in his time.

Simon Peter, living in his time.

Martin Luther, living in his time.

Rev. Chu Yiu-ming, living in our time.

You and me, living in our time.

What matters is not which era is better, but whether we can listen to the call of the times and respond to that call accordingly."

"Regarding big issues, people will not take account of what religion you follow. I prefer to use the word "faith" to describe what we believe. Christianity is one of the world religions. Religions emphasize doctrines and rules of living practice, while faith is the ultimate value and foundation of life belief. Believing in righteousness and truth, believing that people should have a free mind not being repressed by fear should be the "faith" which people with conscience would support. When a person with a true Christian faith, he is driven by the Lord of righteousness, following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and take courage to make the right decision. Her faith has become the strength of her perseverance."
