Education for Waste Management

The primary focus of this theme is to promote environmental awareness and action competence of school students and their parents, university students and teachers on environmental waste, through education programmes like the "I Act You Act" plastic waste recycling in the Institute and primary schools involved in the project, Quality Education Fund project on the education about waste, and professional development programme on municipal solid waste management, and through resource package development. The team under this theme also conduct research on various strategies of enhancing pedagogical content knowledge of environmental educators for knowledge transfer to primary and secondary school communities. Ongoing work on education for waste management includes the annual organization of the Innovations in Science and Environmental Studies, food waste recycling, air pollution study and its alleviation, as well as university campus sustainability study.
