Introduction Case Study 1

Case Study 2 : Do You Want to Clone One More of "Yourself"?

Suppose you are very busy with your homework and examination.

Would you like to clone one more of "Yourself" to share those busy workloads with you?

You may be happy with the cloned "Yourself", who are working for you to finish the busy tasks!

Or "S/HE" may not follow "YOUR" order and want to dominate "YOU". "S/HE" may also do wrong things and "YOU" are responsible for those risks finally, making you feel troublesome.

Do you have any idea on the BENEFITS and RISKS of human cloning technique to our society?

Pros and Cons of Human Cloning

Possible Benefits
Possible Risks
There is no better way to understand the human genome Humans are spiritual beings; they are not supposed to be made as specimens; they have free will

There may be an ability to produce "superhuman" for good purposes

There may be an ability to produce "superhuman" for bad purposes
Use of laboratory animals for experiments will be reduced Countries could clone soldiers for war
Medicinal methods will enter a new era such as tissue cloning If humans are cloned, they are made to be merchandise and can be sold.
Further understanding of our past (i.e. creation? evolution? big bang theory? etc.) If cloning is relied upon for reproduction, everyone will have the same genotype; offersprings will be a sick twist of inbreeding
There will be no more organ transplant waiting lists and more people will be recovered from diseases If everyone has the same genotype, a disease that is fatal to that genotype would wipe out the whole human race
Cloned babies for infertile couples Baby beocmes a commercial product rather than a human being

What do you think about animal cloning and human cloning?

1. What do you think about creating new living organisms by man?

2. Do you think such creation of new living organisms will bring any benefits to us?

3. Do you think such creation of new living organisms will cause any risks to us?

4. Do you think we have such ability and wisdom to create new living organisms without any errors or flaws?

5. Should there be any legal restrictions on the creation of new living organisms?
