The Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance (Cap. 650) has been in effect since 20 January 2026. Under the new Ordinance, 25 categories of “specified professionals” from the social welfare, healthcare and education sectors, including registered teachers and permitted teachers in specified schools, will have a statutory duty to report suspected serious child abuse or risk of serious harm encountered in the course of their work.
