Ng Wai-chung is a student of the two-year full-time BEd(Primary) taking a major in Chinese and a minor in Information Technology. Becoming a teacher has been his wish for over ten years. Determined to pursue his ideal, he gave up the security of a career in aircraft engineering to enrol on the Certificate in Education course three years ago. Wai-chung has all the elements of an effective teacher. He describes himself as "fond of interacting with children, positive and optimistic, and earnest in communicating with others." He is also highly articulate and has a keen sense of responsibility.

After qualifying as a teacher by completing the Certificate programme, he made up his mind to further equip himself professionally by studying the BEd programme. "The CE modules have laid a strong foundation for me in areas of subject knowledge, classroom management, special learning needs and child development, and provided me with abundant opportunities in teaching practice. The degree programme helps reinforce my acquired knowledge in terms of subject specialism and depth. It also facilitates the higher level of exploration, reflection and problem-solving skills characteristic of university education." Feeling confident and competent, Wai-chung is looking forward to joining the teaching profession two years later to nurture our next generation. He is eager to grapple with the unprecedented challenges education faces in the new era.
