Ronnie Lui
Learning at the chalkface
Teaching practice was the most memorable and valuable part of training for primary school teacher Ronnie Lui. She graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree, specialising in English, music and Chinese and now teaches Primary 3-6 children.
"I did three terms of teaching practice during my studies at the Institute and I really enjoyed it. I was in a real situation, facing a group of students, trying to teach the methods I had learned and building up a relationship with the students. This was very useful," she said. Ronnie recalls that she received excellent support from her lecturers at the Institute and from teachers at the schools where she taught. Her tutors also were helpful. "I had a good relationship with them and we still keep in touch. The tutors were really good," she said. "Being in this programme has made me more mature. I've learned a lot and my training has helped me to be able to cope well in a
classroom," she added.
