This paper describes the state of the environmental science & engineering education trend in the tertiary institutes in China and explores the education reform in the environmental Science & engineering and training for research ability of the students in Beijing Normal University. As the examples of the courses of "Environmental Science Principle" and "Environmental Science Generality", the teaching is designed and optimized. By the approach of case study, seminar, science lecture, research group and green campus activity students develop science research diathesis and ability. Based on assessing and analyzing teaching reform, the paper also puts forward: (1) the teacher level is the most important factor in teaching reform; (2) course content optimization is the base to form and develop the teaching characteristics and (3) updated teaching material is the support, resources and backup for teaching.
