Paper Awards

As we are receiving notable contributions from education practitioners, researchers and policy-makers throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, we would like to recognize and promote quality contributions to the theme of our conference ‘Managing Global Changes and Education Reforms: Asia and Pacific Responses’.

 

1.      "APERA Conference Best Paper Award" Sponsored by ERPP

2.      "Young Scholar Best Paper Awards" Sponsored by Springer

3.      "HKIEd’s 20th Anniversary Outstanding Paper Awards"

 

Guidelines apply to all Awards:

 

One paper is allowed to apply one award, no paper is allowed to win more than one award.

 

Awards Criteria:

These main criteria will be considered by the judges when evaluating each paper:

Ÿ   Conceptual/theoretical framing

Ÿ   Research methodology

Ÿ   Data sources

Ÿ   Data analysis and interpretation of research

Ÿ   Findings or results

Ÿ   Conclusions

Ÿ   Significance of the study

Ÿ   Originality

Ÿ   Creativity

Ÿ   Presentation

Ÿ   Oral presentation at the parallel paper / poster/ workshop/ symposium sessions

 

Selection Process:

The award selection process is comprised of two stages:

 

Stage 1: Each paper being considered for the awards will be first evaluated by the Conference Committees of APERA-HKERA 2014.

Stage 2: Winning papers are to be selected by Award Selection Committees from candidate papers nominated by the Conference Committees for each of the Best Paper category.

Discussion and voting will be conducted among the committees, to select both paper awards.

 

Language:   Manuscripts must be in English or Chinese.

Originality:  All kinds of contribution and embedded multimedia materials should be original and have not been published or offered for publication elsewhere.

Typing:  Manuscripts should be given in the MS-Word format and they should follow the specifications given below:

Ÿ   Paper size: A4 (210 x 297 mm)

Ÿ   Font size: 12 point

Ÿ   Paragraphs: justified, single-spaced (except tables)

Ÿ   Margins: 2.5 cm each side

Ÿ   Numbering: Tables should be numbered by Roman numerals, figures by Arabic numerals

Ÿ   Style: Refer to those for conference proceedings and American Psychological Association Publication

     Manual 4th. ed., 1994, including use of three levels of headings, citations, and references.

Length:        Normally it should be around 3,000 to 5,000 in English words, 6,000-10,000 in Chinese

                     words                     

Abstract:      An abstract of around 200-250 words should be provided.

Attachments (in MS-word format):

Ÿ   One file containing a cover sheet which includes the authors’ name, abstract code, paper title, email address, affiliation etc., abstract and full paper.

Ÿ   Scanned copy of graduation certificate of Ph.D. degree (English version of certificate is preferred)(Appliable only for entry to the Young Scholar of Best Paper Award)

 

Copyrights:

Transfer any copyrights is not required. Authors are free to submit their manuscripts for publications in journals after the conference presentation.

 

Submission Procedure:

Please email application materials to apera@ied.edu.hk. The Conference Secretary of APERA-HKERA Conference 2014 will reply to your submissions for the Awards. Each applicant will receive a confirmation email from the Conference Secretary. Any applicant who has not received a reply from the Conference Secretary, please contact them again.
