Page 5 - Future Educators: Wisdom of Teacher Entrepreneurialism
P. 5
Preface
Welcome to this project hosted by The Joseph Lau Luen Hung
Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change of The
Education University of Hong Kong, funded by the Service Leadership
Education Limited! This project studies current theories and applied
research in middle leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurialism. It
reveals practices and principles of organisational restructuring,
organisational development and innovation, and presents strategies
supporting entrepreneurialism in educational organisations (teacher
entrepreneurialism).
The project addresses the notion of the 3Cs qualities introduced by
Po Chung, whereby entrepreneurs need to be aware of and fluent in
the subject of the ‘3Cs’ (competence, character and care) to become
great service leaders. The project also addresses innovation for
continuous improvement, whereby successful educational
organisations identify creative strategies to meet organisational
goals. Participants will analyse organisations to understand the
factors facilitating and prohibiting change and examine specific
cultural perspectives about organisational change in order to
understand innovation and change in the East Asian context.
Participants will experience an entrepreneurial journey by analysing
systemic changes and working in a team setting to identify
entrepreneurial solutions to deal with such changes.
You will find that this project has been constructed to take school
leader needs into account with an entrepreneurial mindset. We aim
to help school leaders to understand and enact their role as
entrepreneurial middle leaders in schools (i.e., Edupreneur) and
cope with the issues you face daily and in strategic planning. In this
sense, it does not set out to be a theoretical programme except
where an understanding of theory can help them become a better
leader. I hope that as the project progresses that school leaders will
gradually acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become an
entrepreneurial teacher and be able to apply these skills to enhance
efficiency and effectiveness within your teams.
