About the Project

Project Title: Self-perception of sustainability consciousness of Hong Kong secondary school graduates and teachers resulting from the Compulsory New Senior Secondary Curriculum

Our goals:

  • to describe and analyze environmental aspects of the sustainability consciousness of secondary school graduates who have entered tertiary institutions; and
  • to arrive at an understanding of what MSS LS curricular features might have fostered this and how we may use educational research to inform and align liberal education practices at all levels of the Hong Kong Educational system.

Research Design:

The project PI and her team generated findings from analysis of the data collected with mix methods; including in-depth semi-structured interviews with 28 secondary school teachers, questionnaires distributed to 3251 secondary school graduates currently studying at eight Hong Kong UGC-funded tertiary institutions, and written documents including meeting papers and documents available and provided by schools and teachers related to the implementation of the NSS LS curriculum.

Progress:

The project will be compeleted at 30 June 2018.
