About Us

Based on the well-established impact of The Education University of Hong Kong and the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) on research and practice in educational settings and the prevailing strength of the Department of Psychology (PS) on social, health, and community psychology, our research group serves two main goals. To start with, we aim to develop novel theoretical underpinnings and adopt multimethod approaches to examine self-regulation and interpersonal regulation of emotions and behaviors that exert influence on mental health as well as personal and relational well-being. Second, we aim to provide evidence that supports scalable education and interventions in improving mental health in local and international contexts. The objectives are directed towards promoting adaptive functioning, physical and mental health, and well-being. Despite our work ranges over diverse backgrounds, we presently focus on children and adolescents of school age, parents or intimate social partners who are working, and pre-service and in-service teachers. We also work in close collaboration with our strategic research partners, such as RWTH Aachen University, Nanjing Normal University, Nanyang Technological University and South China Normal University.
