and ‘My Journey of Psychological Exploration at HKIED’. The authors Associate Professor
of ‘An insider, yet, an outsider’, and ‘The Blue Legend’ share the Department of English Language Education
challenges they contended with as a freshmen and a senior student Associate Dean (US) of Faculty of Humanities
respectively, and the passion developed. The article ‘From Receiving
to Giving’ highlights the personal meanings derived from the
author’s formative experiences as an international student, and how
the encounters in earlier years impact his concerns and orientations
as a professor in later years. ‘ 和諧四重唱── 華東交流點滴 ’
contains anecdotes of students’ experiences during the exchange
programme.


In the second section, ‘Living with Difference: Why
Literature Matters’ emphasizes the power that ‘literature’ has in
allowing people to transcend differences, and to appreciate the
essence of humanity. Strategies for enhancing marking consistency
and integrity are proposed in ‘Consistency and fairness in assessing
student work’, while learning activities that enhance creative
writing in Chinese are described in ‘ 聯句作詩──文學創作教學活
動分享 ’. The essence of new pedagogy as part of the education
reforms is outlined in ‘香港學校體育學習之新發展 ’ focusing on
the curriculum subject of Physical Education and ‘ 通識教育的學與
教 ’ on Liberal Studies, while changes in assessment pedagogy are
presented in ‘Assessment Reform in Hong Kong’. ‘教學研習小組經
驗分享 ’ and ‘Collaborative Learning: an Effective Strategy in Tertiary
