Welcome to the website of the UNESCO Chair at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)!

The appointment of UNESCO Chair, first awarded to EdUHK in 2011, has been renewed for another four-year term (from 2023 to 2027).

Professor John C.K. LEE, President and Chair Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, has been reappointed as the UNESCO Chair in Regional Education Development and Lifelong Learning for his second term from 2023 to 2027, following the successful completion of his first term from 2019 to 2023.
 
Technical and Vocational Education and Training is a key priority for the future both in Hong Kong and the region. Since 1 August 2025, Professor LEE has taken up the role as Director of the UNEVOC Centre (Hong Kong) at EdUHK, advocating the work of the Hong Kong UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre and ensuring the Centre will play a central role in EdUHK’s future work.
 
Professor John C.K. LEE, the UNESCO Chair holder, is committed to advancing UNESCO’s SDGs by fostering the development of 21st-century skills, promoting positive values, and capacity building across education sectors. His work emphasizes life and intercultural learning, and educational enhancement, particularly in the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), while also contributing to the regional advancement of UNESCO’s SDGs.
