社會學與社區研究是...
社區不但是地理上劃定範圍上的日常活動，也是人與人之間、街坊與街坊之間的連繫。社會學和社區研究訓練學生觀察社區的能力，學習在習以為常的生活中探問究竟，以理解個人於社區裡所面對的社會與文化挑戰。
課程目標
- 裝備學生以社會學角度去理解香港、內地和世界的轉變和發展；
- 藉增強學生概念思考和解決問題的能力，以促進個人成長及可持續發展社區；
- 培養學生能應用適切的研究方法探究社會問題的素養。

社會學為本
運用相應社會學概念和理論，分析本港和區域社區發展。
社區帶動
制定可行和具持續性的在地與區域發展計劃以提升社區素質。
體驗式學習
讓學生透過實習和參與社區項目應用學科知識和技能。

參觀南豐紗廠，回顧香港紡織廠房往事

課程注重培養學生於不同行業廣泛應用的共通能力，亦強調學生須兼備質性和量性研究能力，這有助於學生的職涯發展。課程亦著重教授與社區相關的社會學知識，確保學生能在實況中應用課程所學。
畢業生能適任不同範疇工種，包括：社區工作者、從事非政府組織、政府部門和公共機構的社區統籌、國際援助/發展工作者、公關、社會和市場調查人員、學術機構研究助理、及青年工作等。
