This book is a graduation present (at least a belated one) from us, the editors and the department to you.
We all know OUR programme is ending, but it does not mean we must say farewell in tears. This book is our more fun way of recording the growth and progress that we have all been through together. In this book, you will find your stories re-imagined in the different chapters. We follow BA(LSE) as if it was a person on an adventure to the end.
Feel free to go through the book by skipping to the chapter you like. Or you could start from the beginning, where you will experience the memories of the programme from the beginning to the end.

石籬聖若望天主教小學先前進行了一系列的AMLBD課程。我們身為教育大同的暑期實習生有幸親身來到校園觀看LBD堂的實際教學情況，十分興奮！

Two BAFS students have been awarded at the 9th Hong Kong Outstanding Prospective Teachers Award. Mr. LO Wing Kong Jacky (currently a BAFS year-5 student) won a Gold award and Mr. LEE Kwok Shing (currently a BAFS year-4 student) won a Silver award. We are delighted to have them share their joy and passion for education in the following paragraphs.

Five BEd(BAFS) Year 4 students (Chu Lai Hang; Lo Wing Kong; Ma King Lok; Ng Hok Yu; Yung Sing Yu) formed a team and participated in the MBS ECase Competition 2021 in March - June.

Congratulations to Tracy Liu Sin-ying, a Year 4 student on the Bachelor of Education (Geography) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), for winning the “Prix Meilleur Espoir” (Best Hope Prize) at The 11th Interuniversity French Speech Competition of the Pearl River Delta organised by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, and the Institute French of China.

BA(LSE) alumnus Mr Cheung Chun Mo Wins Outstanding Prospective Teachers Award
BA(LSE) alumnus Mr Cheung Chun Mo, current student of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) at The Education University of Hong Kong, was presented with the Gold Award in the 8th Outstanding Prospective Teachers Election. Mr Cheung hopes to become a primary school teacher who teaches Mathematics and General Studies in the future.

BEd(BAFS) Final Year Student Mr Tang Ho Yin Gary Wins Outstanding Prospective Teachers Award
It is glad to be given a gold award in the eighth Hong Kong Outstanding Prospective Teachers Award. During the preparation, I applied problem-based learning and e-learning in my teaching plan. On the presentation day, I had to do a teaching demonstration and be interviewed by the judges. The interview section was meaningful as the questions reminded me to think about what is teaching. I also shared the importance of financial education on the prize presentation day. Those experiences are a cornerstone for me to be a BAFS teacher. I believe that life inspires life and I will keep improving my teaching ability in the future. Once again, thank you for Dr. Vincent Cheng's, my FE supervisor, nomination in this Teachers Award.

The Programme Team is proud to present the BALSE Memory Book 2021 which celebrates the achievements of the BA(LSE) programme over all these years. We hope the pictures and words of sharing would evoke students, alumni and staff members’ fond memories and a sense of pride for the path that we have treaded together!

Mr Luk was awarded President's Appreciation 2020/21 for his exemplary achievements in sports.

Mr Hu was awarded 'President's Appreciation 2019/20' for his exemplary achievements in community service. He participated in many voluntary services both locally and overseas.

Mr Hu will continue to study in our university for a Postgraduate Diploma in Education to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher.

「一帶一路」沿線國家哈薩克斯坦是中亞地區最大的經濟體，教育大學通識教育榮譽文學士畢業生在機緣巧合下，參與當地名為「光明大道」的發展計畫，去年九月到當地一所大學教授英文四個月。他以生動的教學方式，讓學生得以克服英語口試時緊張口吃的心理關卡，成績進步；又舉辦活動，鼓勵學生與外國人交流，令他深受學生歡迎。他冀未來能加入跨國機構，促進各地的文化、經濟交流。

Five BEd(BAFS) students (Chu Hoi Ting; Chu Lai Hang; Ng Hok Yu; Ng Kei Ying; Yung Sing Yu) formed a team and were shortlisted and trained as Personal Finance Ambassadors on the Personal Finance Ambassador Programme 2019/20. Participants were required to develop their financial education projects under the theme “e-Payment” to strengthen students’ knowledge of electronic payment and personal finance. They were also required to deliver their team project and promote financial education messages to students at the University. Despite the disruptions since November 2019 and the many difficulties for the team to carry out programme activities on campus, our BAFS team managed to put their activities online through video and mini-games, providing useful hints and questionnaires on personal finance. The project was successfully implemented by inviting students to reflect on their spending habits and to practise balance between saving and E-payment spending. 

The Personal Finance Ambassador Programme 2019/20 was co-organised by HKEX Foundation Limited, Investor and Financial Education Council, and St. James’ Settlement. There were more than thirty participating teams from local tertiary institutions. 

反修例風波下，警民對峙場面不斷，親友間屢屢因政見不同而發生爭執，社會氣氛及大眾情緒難免受影響。香港教育大學約40名學生早前到訪冰島及芬蘭尋找快樂，有需依賴輪椅出入的「玻璃骨」男生亦是其中一員，他指，在旅程中感受到冰島人的快樂源自於心靈富足，即使冰島人面對國家破產危機，仍積極面對；他呼籲港人借鏡冰島人，適時抽離現時社會氣氛，到大自然環境中調整心情。

A group of 11 students from different majors of undergraduate programs joined our Global Learning Enhancement Fund (GLFE) project and flied over to Australia, a fantastic nation in the Southern Hemisphere, straight after the final term examination!!! The tour was not for sightseeing and leisure but also education purposes. Students were expected to have dialogue with the representatives of those organizations being visited to acquire wider and deeper understanding of the Australian financial market in Sydney. We met bank officials, accountant, lawyer, professors and Australian students and had the opportunities to interact with them during the talks and visits. Our students had done a great job as they were all disciplined and responsible with respect to educational visits, sightseeing and private social functions indeed. Students and I really enjoyed this trip and they told me that although it was only a 8-days tour (2nd – 9th, June, 2019), their horizon is greatly widen as they experienced Australian culture during the whole visit. I do look forward to organizing such kind of meaningful educational trip in the near future as a business educator myself.

My classmates and I joined the study trip to Vancouver organized by the Department of Social Sciences in this summer. We went to Vancouver for attending 2-day lectures in the University of British Columbia (UBC) and sightseeing during 15th- 23rd June 2019. The excellent lectures conducted by Prof. Mui Chung Yan and Prof. Christopher Rea were the most impressive part in this study trip. We attended the classes on the immigrant policy and difficulties of Hong Kong immigrants in Canada, the importance of research study and Chinese comedy culture. All these benefited us a lot.

BA(LSE) Year 1 and Year 2 students had a fruitful and enjoyable trip to Kazakhstan from 18/6-25/6/2019! The Nazarbayev University treated us as honourable guests! They even gave us a really big EdU cake on the second last day which we couldn't finish - it is just too big!! Dr. Gordon Chan and Nick, one of our Year 2 students happened to the June birthday boys and cut the cake.

I am delighted to be awarded the Outstanding Youth of Tai Po (Open Category) and on the Dean of Students’ List. These honours encourage me to continue to chase my goals, to lead others, and to contribute to the community.

十名主修地理教育及全球及環境研究的學生在2018年12月5日至11日到訪北京，參加清華大學交流團。是次交流團的主題是「粵港澳大灣區戰略背景下京港應對氣候變化的政策機制比較與分析」。透過講座及參觀，學生對氣候變化的核心議題有更深認識，同時亦了解到中國如何應對氣候變化。

‘The Chin Family’’ Personal Finance Ambassador Programme 2018/19 is organized by Chin Family (Investor Education Centre) and St. James’ Settlement. The programme aims at enhancing the financial literacy of tertiary students, and raising the awareness of good personal financial management at tertiary institutions. This year, the theme of the team project requirement was ‘Smart Online Spending’. We had to develop a financial education initiative in order to promote the concept of good personal financial management under the requirement. Our team finally got the Gold award for Excellent Financial Education Initiative, and a bonus of $20,000.

蘇家俊的爺爺在他小時候已跟他說：「要做一個好人。」他自小立志投身紀律部隊，希望可以服務市民。在他中四時，他的老師常在課堂上分享不同時事，令他多留意社會並在大學選修通識教育，4年學習生涯中，他前後參與及籌備了7次義工服務，多在內地山區義教留守兒童，義教的經驗更讓他明白教育可以帶來改變，畢業後在小學任教，希望「與學生同行」。

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) will host the 16th International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) on 30 July 2019 (next year). In preparation for Hong Kong’s first-ever iGeo, a delegation of EdUHK geography experts attended the 15th iGeo in Quebec City this year from 31 July to 6 August as observers.

Yu Po-yan Yanbo, our student from Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Global and Environmental Studies, found her life mission in an internship in Africa.

Year 1 students from BA(LSE) programme went to Taiwan this summer as their field visit.

大學三年級生Sherry和Serena與二年級生Cynthia和Chloe，一同參加了「WWF環境保育領袖培訓計劃」，揀選了紙包飲品盒作為關注的議題。「我曾誤以為這種盒子可放入藍色廢紙回收箱，後來發現錯了，但一直以為不能回收。早前看到綠色力量推動回收飲品盒的計劃，才了解到原來這是可再造的資源。」於教育大學修讀全球及環境研究的Sherry道。
