1.    To determine the current status of belongingness amongst a good sample of  Hong Kong permanent residents;
2.    To identify the factors affecting the status of belongingness of Hong Kong adult permanent residents in particular in relation to recent socio-economic and political development;
3.    To compare the current status of belongingness of Hong Kong adult permanent residents with other similar studies previously conducted;
4.    To propose ways to resolve conflicts or disengagements in relation to belongingness in particular in relation to the current family and youth development policies.
