Creating Good Citizens: A Study of the Youth Uniformed Units in Hong Kong
Project Year: 2016-2017
Funded by Internal Research Grant, September 2016
The study is to conduct an extensive review of the development of the key uniformed youth groups affiliated to disciplinary forces or subsidized by the government of Hong Kong in terms of missions, organization and operation from the provision of free education in the 1970s to the present. It also examines the key activities designed and provided by different uniformed youth groups in primary and secondary school contexts: the missions and their rationales behind such activities; and how were they perceived by different stakeholders, including the organization personnel, the teachers in schools, the parents and the participating children.
