PGDE(S)-Citizenship and Social Development
This subject study equips pre-service and in-service teachers with the rationales, concepts, and competencies required for the development and implementation of the senior secondary Citizenship and Social Development curriculum. In addition to promoting interdisciplinary studies through inquiry method, the subject study also develops course participants' generic skills, pedagogical content knowledge, and assessment literacy so that they can provide rich opportunities for their students to make connections among different disciplines, examine multiple perspectives, and construct personal knowledge with the learning experiences. The student-centred, activity-based, inquiry method, experiential and constructivist approaches to teaching and learning are adopted. In regard to assessments, they are mainly authentic, performance-based and process-oriented with the aim of providing feedback for course participants' continuous improvement in the process of learning.
Any aspect of the course and course offerings (including, without limitation, the content of the Course and the manner in which the Course is taught) may be subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of the University. Without limiting the right of the University to amend the course and its course offerings, it is envisaged that changes may be required due to factors such as staffing, enrolment levels, logistical arrangements and curriculum changes.
