PGDE (Business Studies)

INTRODUCTION

This subject study provides an overview of school business education, the curriculum and pedagogy of business subjects. It aims to develop participants' knowledge of, and competencies for, teaching business subjects with a particular emphasis on understanding the Hong Kong business curriculum guide and school-based instructional design. Participants are required to undertake practical learning tasks such as preparing schemes of work, unit plans, lesson plans, designing interactive teaching activities and aids, as well as conducting lesson presentations throughout the study. In particular, participants are encouraged to develop their own pedagogy and activities that suits specific contexts. Formative assessment and varied practical assessment modes including teaching package, portfolio, lesson/school-based curriculum planning and presentation are offered to participants in each courses of the Subject Study. Participants will be required to identify the encountered problems and suggest possible strategies for achieving an on-going refinement of their teaching competency.
