Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Liberal Studies Education (Self-financed)

INTRODUCTION
The programme is unique in its interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approach to the study of issues related to self and personal development, society and culture, as well as technology and environment that are the major foci of Liberal Studies under the new curriculum reform. It integrates concepts, skills and values in the learning, teaching and research of relevant issues/problems. Students are also led to integrate theories with practices through experiential learning in the field visit, internship and honours project. These diverse learning experiences allow students to develop multiple perspectives and higher-order thinking skills.

【DSE2018】學習通識 找到人生路線圖

莘莘學子完成了2018年度DSE,接下來是考慮升學就業的問題,在等成績的時候,不如再次了解現時大學的出路,根據Quacquarelli Symonds(QS)世界大學2017的最新排名,香港教育大學 (教大) 在教育學科位列亞洲第二、全球十三,但是入讀教大的出路不只是當老師。

選讀通識 為自己點一盞明燈

近來大家都在討論通識學科在香港中學的定位,剛卸任的課程發展議會與考評局通識科課程委員會(One Committee)主席趙永佳教授,多年來負責編寫及修訂高中通識科課程,現任香港教育大學社會學講座教授。趙教授表示過去委員會成員大致認同中學通識科的六個單元需要修訂,但現階段並未有消息指出需要將通識科變成選修課。「通識科不管在中學或大學也是教育學生規劃生涯發展,尤其在大學,選讀通識是為了解自己的興趣。」香港教育大學社會科學系陳潔華博士︰「以全球化課題為例,從個人、社會到國際的分析,不少同學不單能從中了解規劃工作的生涯,甚至得到人生的啟發。」
 


教大的通識教育重視實踐,曾有學生4年內參加5個不同交流團,增廣見聞。

 

通識教育的市場定位強

香港教育大學全日制課程自資課程「通識教育榮譽文學士」,除了近半成的畢業生成為教育工作者外,也有不少從事社企幹事、活動策劃、市場營銷、行政人員、文字工作者、研究助理等職務,陳博士指出︰「最大原因是通識教育榮譽文學士課程,培養從多角度思考、分析、溝通能力的人才。相較其他學科,通識科功課培養和考核學生不同能力,例如蒐集多元化的資料作多角度分析,這些技巧更貼近職場需要。」

加上教大強調博雅教學精神,即文理兼備的教學模式,而非只專注於語言及人文學科,教與學的精粹體現在通識教育榮譽文學士的課堂之外,也包括不同類型的活動課題、工作坊、講座、實地考察及交流團。「即使是自資課程,也有機會獲得資助交流,曾有一位學生在4年間,已曾到訪5個海外地方作交流,擴闊國際視野。」陳博士補充。

 


陳博士及趙教授均認為生涯規劃是教大「通識教育榮譽文學士」的強項,當中新推行的緊密「師徒計劃」可教導學生管理個人情緒及提升品格。

 

小廟中的大和尚 教大風氣像家庭

現在入學學生年齡比從前的小,加上社會氣氛改變,大學生的情緒跟學習支援同樣重要,趙教授:「有別於以往的Mentor- Mentee Program (師徒計劃),Mentor跟Mentee的關係將更親密,學生在一年級時會分成不同組別,由專業教授指導直至畢業,跟Mentor的互動將加入學分制。教大希望學生都像『小廟中的大和尚』,有更多專業討論、照顧的機會。」對於收生貼士,陳博士特別提醒,「通識教育榮譽文學士」以英語為授課語言,重視學生語文能力,面試也以英語進行,在分組討論時,希望同學能清晰表達個人意見之餘,也理解跟自己不同意見的同學立場為佳。
