The Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Leadership 2020/21

Share One Sky, Always Dream High. Inspired by a precious meeting with NASA Apollo Astronaut, promoting STEAM Education has always been my dream. I started my change-making journey by social innovation and I soon became the External Vice-President of Starrix which organised 16 thematic lectures in the Hong Kong Space Museum.

Motivated by the EdUHK, I decided to reach out and explore new possibilities in popular science. In 2020, I became Coordinator of the IAU National Astronomy Education and served the International Committee of the International Dark-Sky Association. Taking up leading roles, I shared about innovative ideas on STEAM through global conferences and 4 TEDx Talks which took place in Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America. To raise the awareness of light pollution, I founded the "1-minute Astronomy” pop-science channel on transmedia platforms, acting as a KOL named “ASTROMAN” to promote stargazing etiquette and dark-sky protection.

By integrating science with arts, I explored their harmonic consonance and traveled to 40 countries for inspirations as an “astro-music composer”.

I wish one day astronomy education could be promoted all over the world to engage more people to exercise their innovative ability and chase for their starry dreams.

The Education University of Hong Kong considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources.  The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements.
