The Graduate Employment Survey is conducted by the Student Affairs Office annually, with the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the graduates’ employment situation and more details on their job process. SUMMARY OF SURVEY FINDINGS

I. FULL-TIME PRE-SERVICE PROGRAMMES

1. 1,011 out of 1,073 graduates from full-time pre-service programmes completed the questionnaires (response rate 94.2%).

2. Among them, 937 (92.7%) were employed, 57 (5.6%) pursued full-time further studies, 7 (0.7%) were still seeking employment, 9 (0.9%) did not seek for jobs due to personal reasons and 1 (0.1%) emigrated/returned to home country.

3. The mean monthly salary received by full-time employed respondents increased by 4.8% from HK$22,581 in 2016 to HK$23,676 in 2017. The mean monthly salaries for graduates of sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were HK$19,387, HK$25,175 and HK$25,091 respectively.

4. 817 (94.7%) full-time employed respondents engaged in the education field. Among them, 802 (98.2%) held teaching posts.

5. The proportion of respondents pursuing full-time further studies was 5.6%. Among the 57 respondents, 44 of them enrolled in local institutions.

 

II. FULL-TIME COMPLEMENTARY DISCIPLINES UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

1. 200 out of 214 graduates completed the questionnaires (response rate 93.5%). Among the respondents, 154 were employed (77.0%). 39 (19.5%) pursued full-time further studies, 5 (2.5%) were still searching for a job, while 2 (1.0%) had no intention to seek employment. 109 (91.6%) out of 119 full-time employed respondents had secured employment in Hong Kong.

2. The mean monthly salary of the full-time locally employed respondents was HK$14,358.

 

III. Full-time Research Postgraduate Programmes

1. Among 14 graduates, 12 responded to the questionnaire (response rate 85.7%). 11 (91.7%) graduates were employed in education field, while 1 (8.3%) was seeking employment when the survey was conducted.

2. The mean monthly salary of the full-time employed respondents who secured employment in Hong Kong was HK$26,050.

 

IV. FULL-TIME SELF-FINANCED UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

1. 398 out of 430 graduates completed the questionnaires (response rate 92.6%). 308 (77.4%) were employed, 76 (19.1%) pursued full-time further studies, 10 (2.5%) were searching for a job while 4 (1.0%) were not seeking employment. 221 (94.8%) out of 233 full-time employed respondents had secured employment in Hong Kong.

2. The mean monthly salary of the full-time employed respondents who secured employment in Hong Kong was HK$15,273.

 

V. FULL-TIME SELF-FINANCED HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMMES

1. 503 out of 622 graduates completed the questionnaires (response rate 80.9%). 394 (78.3%) were employed, 24 (4.8%) pursued full-time further studies, 67 (13.3%) were still searching for a job, 8 (1.6%) were not seeking employment while 10 (2.0%) emigrated/returned to home country.

2. Among the 357 full-time employed respondents, 167 (46.8%) worked in the Mainland China.

3. The mean monthly salary of full-time employed respondents who secured employment in Hong Kong and in the Mainland China were HK$19,617 and HK$10,410 respectively.
