Abstract
Intellectual capital (IC) is the individual or collective knowledge in an organization that can be used to gain a competitive advantage and to enhance the value of other types of capital. For schools, intellectual capital refers to the intangible resources that come from the knowledge, experience and competencies of staff, from the school’s infrastructure, and from the relationships between the school and its stakeholders. In Hong Kong, schools operate in an increasingly competitive environment of parent choices and within an official quality assurance framework. Developing and measuring school IC is an innovative approach to improve the process of education quality if schools are to succeed in such an accountability-driven environment. This presentation will provide the means to develop and measure school IC by using Kelly (2004) and Cheng (2015) IC models. Nonaka’s SECI model (1995) was adopted as an analytical framework to examine the process of school IC development.(Presentation PDF)
