The Effects of Three Mindfulness Skills on Improving the Training Quality of Guangdong Elite Athletes

ABSTRACT

The significance and effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions have been proposed and approved in a wide range of psychological fields. In sport context, mindfulness has been integrated into cognitive behavioral training, with the aim of improving athletes’ performance, mental status and general well-being. Compared to the traditional cognitive behavioral training (e.g., psychological skill training in sport), mindfulness training is an alternative method for athletes to experience their psychological events using an accepting and non-judging approach to result in an effective and workable psychological states. In this talk, we will share: (a) the characters of athletes’ mindfulness training program we developed; (b) the design and process of practicing three main techniques of mindfulness training to improve the psychological capabilities and training quality; (c) the effects of transferring the knowledge of mindfulness skills on improving the training quality of Guangdong elite athletes.   (Presentation PDF)
