This forum, the third in a series aimed at topical economic themes and issues of importance and concern to the region as a whole, is designed to build on the success of two previous such conferences for the development community, starting with the Manila ADF in 1998 and moving on the Singapore ADF in 2000. The dialogue took place back-to-back with the 3rd OECD/WB/ADB Asian Roundtable on Corporate Governance which held from April 4-6. The APEC dialogue session examined implementation issues of corporate governance, in particular the policy responses and government action needed to create incentives for good corporate governance, while the OECD Asian Roundtable will focus on the technical aspects of corporate governance reforms. The policy dialogue focused on two main themes: 1) creating the incentives for good corporate governance, and 2) monitoring, enforcement and the legal framework to foster sound corporate governance.
