EdUHK Teams Win 10 Taekwondo Medals

In two recent taekwondo competitions, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) teams performed exceptionally well, claiming three championships, placing 1st runner-up once and 2nd runner-up six times in various weight classes.

Four students made their way to the podium at the Secondary School and Tertiary Institution Taekwondo Competition 2018 in January. They were:

  • Wong Hoi-che, a Year-2 student in the Bachelor of Music in Education (Honours) (Contemporary Music and Performance Pedagogy) programme (Champion in Flyweight)
  • Chan Kwan-ho, a Year-2 student in the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Chinese History) programme (Champion in Lightweight)
  • Tai Yan-wai, a Year-1 student in the Bachelor of Music in Education (Honours) (Contemporary Music and Performance Pedagogy) programme (1st runner-up in Finweight)
  • Lin Tsz-ching, a Year-2 student in the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Global and Environmental Studies programme (2nd runner-up in Finweight)

At the 2017-18 USFHK Taekwondo Competition in February, the EdUHK women’s team finished in third place, and five out of the 10 team members won individual awards. They were:

  • Lui Yee-ting, a Year-1 student in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) programme (Champion in Middleweight)
  • Lau Yin-tung, a Year-3 student in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Liberal Studies Education programme (2nd runner-up in Middleweight)
  • Lee Pui-shan, a Year-4 student in the Bachelor of Social Science Education (Honours) (Greater China Studies) programme (2nd runner-up in Finweight)
  • Man Kei-yee, a Year-2 student in the Bachelor of Science Education (Honours) (Sports Science) programme (2nd runner-up in Lightweight)
  • Shum Sze-chit, a Year-2 student in the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education) programme (2nd runner-up in Bantamweight)
