EdUHK Named Caring Organisation

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) was nominated by Hong Kong Children & Youth Services (HKCYS) and The Salvation Army Tai Po Integrated Service for Senior Citizens to receive the Award of Caring Organisation from The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, in recognition of its long-term commitment and concerted efforts to care for the community through partnerships with non-governmental organisations and service companies. This year marks the 14th consecutive year that the University has been honoured with the “10 Years Plus Caring Organisation” logo.

HKCYS is one of the University’s service partners offering service opportunities to EdUHK students. Through professional training, students obtain learning experience, knowledge and practical skills from the skill-based service projects, such as the Board Game Service Project, which serves underprivileged children, and the Sunshine in the Storm Project, which serves youth at risk.

EdUHK has also collaborated with The Salvation Army Tai Po Integrated Service for Senior Citizens for over 10 years in projects such as the “Intergeneration Learning and Elderly Service Education Scheme” and a co-curricular and service learning course on “Intergeneration Learning through Service with the Elderly”. The aim of both initiatives is to enhance students’ exposure to local elderly services and develop their service leadership and organisation skills.
