The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) received another generous donation from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation (the Foundation) today (4 July) to enhance the existing Visiting Scholars Programme.

The donation will allow the University’s Tin Ka Ping Education Fund, which was established in 2008, to further strengthen academic exchange and collaboration among higher education institutions in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Attending today’s donation ceremony were Mr Sam Tin Hing-sin and Mr Tai Hay-lap, Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively, of the Foundation’s Board; Professor Cheng Yin-cheong, Advisory Board Chairman; Mr Tin Wing-sin, Director of the Foundation; Mr David Day, Chief Executive of the Foundation; and senior management members of EdUHK.

EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung extended his sincere appreciation to Mr Sam Tin and the Foundation for their generous support for EdUHK over the years. “The Foundation’s longstanding support and trust symbolise its recognition of the University’s unique role in the education sector. The funding support will allow EdUHK to expand our network with universities in the Greater China region, facilitating exchange and knowledge transfer among the academic institutions.”

Mr Sam Tin said, ‘We believe the future of China lies in education. The enhancement of the Visiting Scholars Programme will enable the University to bring in new ideas and perspectives to foster research collaboration opportunities, while promoting innovative educational approaches in the Greater China region. We are confident to collaborate with EdUHK again in this regard.’
