EdUHK Undergraduate Programme Nominations Scheme
Over 100 school principals and teachers gathered at a tea reception held by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) today (25 February) to share the joy of the success of the Undergraduate Programme Nominations Scheme and exchange views on various issues pertaining to local teacher education.
Among the attendees were EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, Vice President (Academic) Professor John Lee Chi-kin, representatives from Hong Kong’s major school sponsoring bodies, and principals and career team teachers of the Scheme’s partnering schools. Dr Anissa Chan Wong Lai-kuen, Chairman of the Task Force on Review of School Curriculum and a member of the EdUHK Council, also took part in the reception to share her perspectives on and insights into the school curriculum and future development of STEM education.
Addressing the reception, Professor Cheung thanked the school sector for their unfailing support for the Scheme, which enables aspiring students to further their studies at EdUHK and eventually become teachers. “Teachers play an indispensable role in society. The University will continue to adhere to its core mission of nurturing professional educators, preparing them on all fronts for the education needs in the 21st century,” said Professor Cheung.
Since the 2012/13 academic year, EdUHK has invited partnering schools to nominate students who would like to become professional educators to its undergraduate programmes via EdUHK Undergraduate Programme Nominations Scheme. The Scheme, very well-received in the education sector, has attracted over 1,000 nominations each year. The University has enrolled more than 500 applicants so far.
