Visual Arts Student Wins International TAKIFUJI Art Award

Joan Shum Chung-yan, final year student of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Visual Arts) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong, scooped the “Prize for Excellence” in the 40th International TAKIFUJI Art Award. The award was hosted by Japan Traffic Culture Association and the presentation ceremony was held on 12 November 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.

“I am excited to have won this award for my artwork,” said Shum. “I would like to thank Professor Laurence Wood, my advising professor, for the guidance and support he offered.”

In addition to a scholarship, winners were invited to visit “CREARE Atami-Yugawara Studio” and appreciate different art pieces and displays.

Established in 1980, the award aims to support artistically talented young students who will contribute to the future of art and culture. Details are available at jptca.org/en/scholarship.
