Professor CHUNG, Kien Hoa Kevin
Chair Professor of Child Development and Special Education; Head, Department of Early Childhood Education

Professor Kevin Chung is Chair Professor of Child Development and Special Education, and Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education. He obtained his PhD from the University of New South Wales in 1999. After teaching in Australia, he returned to Hong Kong, having served in The University of Hong Kong before joining The Education University of Hong Kong (the then Hong Kong Institute of Education). He was Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Education Studies from July 2008 to August 2010. Professor Chung's research primarily focuses on learning difficulties and literacy development with particular interest in developmental dyslexia; cognitive and linguistic development; literacy acquisition, assessment and instruction; and cognitive neuroscience of language. He has published extensively in journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, and has produced 14 teaching and learning products and software. Professor Chung is active in obtaining various research grants from General Research Fund, Quality Education Fund, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities.
