Dr Lam Bick-har, Associate Professor of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The Education University of Hong Kong, won the Best Paper Award at the Redesigning Pedagogy Conference held from 31 May to 2 June. Her paper, written with an external researcher Ms Winkie Li, takes findings from health psychology to help improve social support in education. It highlights how different contexts help or inhibit the beneficial effects of social support, and looks at how students’ social capital can be improved to enhance their learning and well-being. Dr Lam also looked at ways teachers could support students to enhance their own development and well-being.

The biennial Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference, hosted by the National Institute of Education at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, aimed to share international research and best practices across schools and cultures.
