British Scholar
Proposes Actionable Strategies |
Strategy 2: Principals must find a direction for the school's strategic development, together with realistic goals and expectations. Students, like society, are becoming increasingly complex. The school must position itself in the education community, according to its mission and culture, the socio-economic background of its students and available resources. This will help the public understand the school's specific mission, enabling the school and its staff, to work towards shared aspirations and common goals. In this way, the government can also be urged to adjust any inflexible and invariable education policies. Strategy 3: Principals must re-focus on what really matters for their schools – the improvement of the school's teaching and learning environment, to become a caring and learning community. Consumed by non-teaching related assignments and burdened by administrative
work, many teachers do not find the time to build a caring, communicative
and beneficial relationship with their students through classes and
teaching. School principals should therefore fight on behalf of their
teaching staff for a reduction in aimless administrative or paper work
from the government, to enable teachers to actively re-engage themselves
in professional teaching. |
