Growing with HKIEd -- A Master of Education Student's Personal Account

My life at the student hostel began daily at 8:00 am with all sorts of rush one could imagine - a speedy "wash and dress" before dashing into the classroom with a piece of bread in my mouth. When we chose not to dine at the school canteen after class, or make dinner together with room mates, or chat the whole night, we would give ourselves a treat by just going straight to the Tai Po Centre for dinner. To beat project deadlines, I buried myself in work in the library or the common rooms, and often found myself racing with the security guards in the campus, just to slit my papers through the door of the lecturer's office before the clock stroke ten at night. It still gives me great joy every time I go down this lane of happy and exciting memories.

An even greater experience came in the year 2000 when I joined the HKIEd Putonghua Debating Team. After representing HKIEd in the Hong Kong Inter-varsity Debate Competition, I was further chosen to become a member of the HKSAR team to meet a formidable challenge from our mainland Chinese counterparts in Shanghai. The participation in the Sixth National Debate Invitation Tournament, with other university students from China, provided me with new horizons, as well as a perfect conclusion to my undergraduate days at the HKIEd.
