The story of Shu Wei, a 2002 graduate, and her employer, Ms Leona Lam Wai-ling, Principal of Tai Po Old Market Public School (Plover Cove), is a reflection of the survey findings.

Leona Lam says,"I have full confidence in the new teachers trained by HKIEd."

Shu Wei says,"I have found a profession I truly love which offers me a satisfaction with which nothing can compare!"

Though Shu Wei is a graduate with only two years' teaching experience, she has already won two important awards in the 5th National Reading, Teaching and Learning Competition for young teachers and the 7th Hong Kong Outstanding Teachers Selection.

"HKIEd provides a solid foundation for prospective teachers and nurtures among them a passion for education," says Ms Lam. "They are offered all-round education ranging from child psychology, lesson planning and classroom management to teaching aid preparation. The Institute's exemplary practice in skills and value training for new teachers explains why their young graduates can quickly settle down well in their classes. I have full confidence in the new teachers
trained by HKIEd. Schools should be the best training ground for young teachers. I hence have no hesitation to give new teachers the opportunity to grow and to mature. I nominated Shu Wei for the two competitions to enable her to gain experience. The awards she gained are recognition of her efforts and her devotion to the profession.
