IE Scholar at AERA 2024 Conference

2024-04-22

IE’s Assistant Professor, Dr Jason Cong Lin, attended the American Educational Research Association Annual Conference 2024 held on 11-14 April 2024 in Philadelphia, the United States. The annual conference is the world's largest gathering of education researchers and a showcase for groundbreaking, innovative studies in an array of areas. The theme for 2024 is “Dismantling Racial Injustice and Constructing Educational Possibilities: A Call to Action”.

During the conference, Jason gave a paper presentation of his book Multiculturalism, Chinese Identity, and Education: Who Are We?, which was published by Routledge and forwarded by Prof. James Banks. He was also invited to be a discussant for two sessions and chair four sessions. Meanwhile, as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and Education SIG 171, he helped organise the SIG business meeting and promoted the Faculty and University.

In addition to catching up with old friends at the conference, Jason also met and discussed collaboration opportunities with both emerging and established scholars in the fields of citizenship and democratic/multicultural education, race and ethnic studies, identity, and China and Hong Kong studies. The fruitful conversation during the conference will lead to academic visits and co-authored articles in the near future.
