Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master's Degree Programmes)

The Education Bureau has recently launched the Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master's Degree Programmes).  This scholarship aims to celebrate achievements of high-performing teachers and to encourage teachers' pursuit of higher qualifications as well as to enhance their professionalism.  Application is open to full-time serving teachers who

(a) have been serving as regular teachers in local day schools (including primary, secondary and special schools offering a formal curriculum) for at least five years; and

(b) have enrolled, in the following school year (2017/18), a local part-time master's degree programme specialising in one of the following areas:

(i) STEM Education; (ii) Information Technology in Education; (iii) Language Education (Chinese or English); (iv) Values Education;

(v) Catering for Learner Diversity (including Special Educational Needs, Gifted Education and Inclusive Education); 

(vi) Guidance and Counselling (including Career Guidance, Counselling and Life Education) 

Teachers who apply for "the Scholarship for Teachers" have to be enrolled in a relevant master's degree offered by a local higher education institution in the 2017/18 school year. Master of Education programme with the following fields of study is also included in the list of the relevant study programmes for the Scholarship for Teachers: 

(a)  Education and Developmental Psychology

(b)  Mathematics, Technology, Science and Environment

(c)  Special Needs, Giftedness and Counselling

The quota for “the Scholarship for Teachers” (2017/18) is 20. A total amount of HK$80,000 will be awarded to each awardee.

 

The Scholarship is open for application from 5 to 19 June 2017.
