Educational Counselling, Therapeutic Process and Teaching Pedagogy

This course will offer training to participants about the counselling purview of the practice of speech-language pathology and teaching. Training topics will include theories of counselling, lifespan issues, emotional response to communication disorders, family dynamics, support groups, and multicultural issues. Participants will learn basic counselling strategies, and apply these strategies in practice to manage students with different communication disorders, learning disabilities, and educational challenges. Participants will learn to apply therapeutic processes and teaching pedagogies based on evidence, ethics and professionalism.
