Life, Death, and Early Childhood Education | FEHD study tours open students’ eyes

2019-06-24

46 FEHD students travelled to Taiwan, Nepal and Singapore this semester to experience life and death education, as well as explore cultural heritage and early childhood education.

Students visited the Museum of World Religions, Taipei 228 Memorial Museum, and senior high schools. Students were asked to think about death and suicide prevention, political and historical aspects of death, religious aspects of life and death, as well as life and death education in school.

In Nepal, students enjoyed breathtaking views of the Himalayas as well as a boat trip on Phewa Lake. They visited a tribal village and museum to learn about the culture and history of the indigenous Tharu people in Chitwan National Park. Students helped prepare lunch at an orphanage and taught children using self-designed activities.

In Singapore, students visited a number of early childhood services including preschools and kindergarten. Students reflected on their own value of cultural diversity and work with multicultural families.

As our study tours illustrate, we strive to offer experiential learning opportunities for our students. By equipping them with the professional skills they need to succeed we seek to raise their lives to the NEXT LEVEL.
