Description

The Second Major in Child Development is designed to equip students with the fundamental knowledge in psychological research related to child development. Students will explore how development at different aspects and at different stages impact on learning, including cognitive, social and emotional, language and literacy development.

Career / Study Progression

Offers opportunities for students who pursue a career in early childhood settings such as playgroups, publication companies, after-school activities centres etc.

Equips students with the necessary research skills to conduct systematic research in child development and opens up a research pathway for students into Child Development in their postgraduate degrees.

Students interested in further study after graduation may be able to continue the Master’s programmes in the field of education, psychology and special education, such as the Master of Education (Area of Focus in Early Childhood Education), the Master of Social Sciences in Psychology (Schools and Community Settings), the Master of Arts in Educational Counselling, as well as the Master of Science in Educational Speech-Language Pathology and Learning Disabilities offered by EdUHK.
