EduDreamers’ First Overseas Programme: Asia-Pacific Democratic Education Conference and Education in Australia

2019-08-22

Fifteen EdUHK students joined the first overseas programme of EduDreamers to participate in the “Asia-Pacific Democratic Education Conference (APDEC) and Education in Australia”. EduDreamers is a platform envisioned by the Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL) to nurture pre-service teachers who want to be courageous teacher-leaders to realize their dreams for education.

The 11-day overseas programme took place in Sydney from 14 - 24 July. It was completed successfully with very positive student feedback.

During the programme, the students attended a number of keynote presentations, open space interactive sessions, workshops, talent shows, school visits (including local democratic education schools, The University of Sydney, etc.) and cultural activities. The programme enlightened students’ understanding the meaning of progressive and non-formal education, broadened their perspectives of learning and teaching, and provided them with the opportunities of networking or exchanging with educators, parents, students and other stakeholders around the world.

All participants indicated they would recommend this programme to other students and were interested in joining other EduDreamers’ activities in the future. The participants will host a sharing session in September or October. More details will come at a later stage. Don’t miss it!
