Professor Eric Yu obtained his PhD in Comparative Literature from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Formerly, he served as Director of the Film Studies Centre and Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan.  Professor Yu had also taught at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and National Dong Hwa University before joining NCTU. His research specialisations and teaching interests range from romantic poetry, gothic fiction, travel literature, comparative literature, to popular film genres.  His works on literature and film have appeared in such scholarly journals as Concentric: Literary and Cultural Studies, Texas Studies in Literature and Language, Tamkang Review, Review of English and American Literature, Chung Wai Literary Quarterly, and Modern Chinese Literature. He has been Secretary General and Executive Board Member of Comparative Literature Association of R.O.C. He has been an editor for three academic journals.  His most recent research project focuses on Hong Kong poetry in the 1970s in relation to everyday modernity.
