Inspiring ECE students to construct creative environments for learning in kindergartens

2021-09-20

The Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) organised a two-day workshop together with a site visit at Birdintree Creative Studio in August 2021 to foster participants in constructing creative learning environments in early childhood pedagogy. Nearly 20 students registered for the workshop.

The workshop highlighted the importance of sensory qualities (five senses include sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch) in learning environment designs and how these facilitate children attainments and motivate their autonomous learnings. Constructing creative environments in schools therefore can be considered as one of the pedagogical features. Through the site visit, participants were inspired by possibility thinking in creativity. Creativity can be stimulated and maximized by utilizing handy materials and resources effectively around us. By providing opportunities to explore and imagine in the workshop, participants were fostered in constructing creative environments for learning in kindergarten settings.
