Supported by the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD), the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) organised an exchange tour to Hangzhou and Anji in April 2019. The tour allowed ECE colleagues to learn from educators working in the mainland China, educators who really helped children learn through play on a daily basis.
During the tour, colleagues saw how different learning-through-play models were being implemented in six kindergartens and a youth and children community center, amazed at how the indoor and outdoor environments could be organised along developmentally appropriate themes, equipped with recycled materials, to help children explore, experiment, and learn. Colleagues also explored collaboration opportunities with educators in the mainland China, examining ways to implement different learning-through-play models in Hong Kong, contemplating plans to evaluate the effectiveness of these models.
With the support of FEHD, ECE is ready to collaborate and innovate, bring educational practice and research to the next level!
