ECE PhD graduate awarded the Conference Scholarship

A fresh graduate of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme from the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE), The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), Catrina Liu has won the Conference Scholarship of the Association for Reading and Writing in Asia (ARWA). This award aims at supporting young researchers who attend the annual conference of the ARWA and present their research internationally.  

Catrina showcased her research named “The relationship between paired associate learning and Chinese word reading and writing in kindergarten children: A longitudinal study” in the ARWA. The research investigated how paired associate learning correlated the preschoolers’ Chinese word reading and writing competency and development.        

Catrina dedicated her PhD study to cover the topics of children’s literacy development, arithmetic competence, and home literacy environment. She has previously published 5 journal articles in top journals in the field of Early Childhood Education and Educational Psychology.
