World class recognition

Our increased teaching and research capabilities, in particular in teacher education, are internationally recognised. In the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2020, EdUHK was ranked 2nd in Asia and 16th in the world in the field of Education.

An education that is more than Education

Guided by the “Education-plus” vision, our academic scope is not limited to the traditional strength of teacher education but has expanded to a wide range of complementary programme offerings in the Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as Creative Arts and Culture. Students benefit from a multidisciplinary learning environment comprising second majors or electives, general education, non-formal learning, internships, overseas exchanges, etc.

Flexible cross-sectoral training

Our five-year full-time Bachelor of Education (BEd) programmes provide training at both primary and secondary levels. Apart from learning the respective subject disciplines, students are required to complete cross-sectoral field experience (i.e. teaching at both primary and secondary levels) so that they are equipped with disciplinary and professional competency. This arrangement affords our BEd students the flexibility to choose whether to teach in primary or secondary schools, thus enhancing their employability, upon graduation.

Learning from the experts and pioneers in education innovations

At EdUHK, we are committed to using innovative pedagogies to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness. In 2018 and 2019, our academic colleagues and their research teams brought home over 20 awards at international invention exhibitions or competitions (e.g. The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, The Silicon Valley International Invention Festival, The International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, etc.) from both sides of the Atlantic. The University also wields greater impact by collaborating with sister institutions and charities in different community projects or commissioned projects related to educational technology for language and music education, assessment technology, coding education, etc.

Be part of the growing global network

EdUHK has an extensive network of over 200 partner institutions from over 30 countries or regions. Students can study abroad for one semester by joining credit-bearing exchange programmes. In addition, there is a full range of overseas short-term experiential learning activities outside Hong Kong such as Leadership Enhancement and Development Programme, Overseas Experiential Learning Programmes, Service Exposure for Global Awareness Programme, Summer Community Outreach Programme, and Intergeneration Learning and Elderly Service Education Project, International Summer Programmes, etc. in different corners of the world. Those programmes entail a wealth of opportunities for our students to gain cross-cultural exposure and understanding throughout their studies at the University. Over 60% of our undergraduate students were reported to have at least one type of non-local learning experience – the highest among all government-funded universities in 2017/18 and 2018/19.

Our grads get jobs

Our programmes equip students with professional and subject knowledge under the framework of Graduate Attributes “PEER & I” that are relevant to their future roles and highly regarded by employers. In 2019, the average monthly salary was HK$27,136, well above the average monthly salary of graduates in the territory.

Financial support

A range of scholarships are offered to both local and non-local students enrolling in our undergraduate programmes on the basis of academic merit, personal attributes, extra-curricular activities and community service. Besides, all full-time undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the Global Learning Enhancement Fund (GLEF) for their participation in international and regional learning activities organised by faculties/ departments, Global Affairs Office, and Student Affairs Office.
