單元概要
Career and life development (CLD) refers to a self-exploratory journey. It aims to unearth individuals’ uniqueness in terms of potential and interests, and gradually constructs life goals and career aspirations as well as roles in society. The overall goal is to enable people to live out a fulfilling life especially in the transition from school to work journey. This course will provide participants with theoretical and practical knowledge about both CLD-related concepts and the use of experiential learning activities (e.g. workplace learning, job shadowing, mentorship schemes, leadership programmes, overseas exchange, service learning, internship, expedition). Apart from this, participants will also gain essential knowledge and insights to a range of evaluation models for the self-improvement of CLD provisions in institutions. In particular, the use of benchmarks or quality frameworks (e.g. Gatsby Good Career Guidance Benchmarks, Hong Kong Benchmarks for CLD) and issues related to the models. In addition, the course will provide opportunities for participants to reflect on controversial issues and challenges related to CLD in the fast-moving 21st Century (e.g. policy trends, education-business partnerships, employability skills, entrepreneurship and social development, Extended Notion of Work ENOW, work ethics and etiquette). Continuous professional development for career-related educator through critical reflective practices, community of practice, and school leadership etc. will also be discussed in this course.
