Major theories of human development and the latest findings in the field will be introduced. Particular emphasis will be given to the period of childhood and adolescence. The influences of biological, cognitive, social, emotional, educational factors on human development will be examined both locally and globally. Topics include attachment, adverse childhood experiences, literacy, cognitive, socio-emotional development, etc. Students shall be able to make professional recommendations to teachers, parents or other stakeholders on different developmental issues taught in this course.
