Rigorous scientific research lays the important foundation for advancement of psychological science. This course provides students with an overview of how systematic psychological research takes place. Specifically, it covers fundamental principles, theories, concepts, and practices relevant to research in psychology, with a focus on positive psychology. The course systematically guides students to learn about scientific psychological research processes in its broadest context, covering areas such as philosophy of science, theories of knowledge, research methodologies, and ethical considerations. It also provides students with knowledge of different research designs (e.g., experimental, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental designs), as well as opportunities to critically evaluate research designs and findings in local, regional, and international contexts.
