Module Synopsis
This is an intermediate course to introduce theories and approaches in the English-Chinese translation of texts in various trades across the media, business and public sectors. The course introduces the nature and language features of written texts in these trades, highlighting the contrasts between texts written in English and Chinese. It would be of interest to students who would like to pursue a career in translation and such fields as copywriting, bilingual editing, journalism, corporate communications and public relations. It enables students to develop an understanding of a variety of text genres in these specialized fields and allows them to apply their theoretical knowledge in translation in specific contexts.
